The Best Teachers Just Learned How
I’ve always felt that some of the best teachers are those who have just, and are still, learning a skill. They understand some of the most subtle difficulties in making a transition.
Recently I attended our nephew Matt’s and his fiance Rachel’s wedding (above right.) I understand Matt’s sister Kara and her husband Ryan (top) were supposed to be matron of honor and best man. Unfortunately Kara, nearly bursting twins, was very sad she couldn’t attend.
But Kara and Ryan had prepared a speech anyway. They were so kind to record it on Kara’s cell, and Dad played it at the wedding.
I wasn’t the only one astonished at the wisdom expressed in this deeply perceptive and spot-on speech. Everyone around me was saying the two sounded like they were twenty years older. Well who knows, because Ryan says they received the advice from others. In any case, most guests had tears in their eyes when the recording finished, and it’s worth passing along, no matter how long it’s been since your wedding.
Kara gave me permission to replay it here. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to add your thoughts and insight.
